Dear New 5th Grade Families,

We are hard at work getting ready for the fall.  Please take a moment to review the Summer Reading List and School Supply List below.  Although the school supplies can be purchased online in a kit, you may find that the items are MUCH cheaper if purchased during the summer at stores such as Target that typically have special pricing on school supplies beginning in mid-July. 

Also, Mr. Moore and I will be hosting a gathering at Garfield Park in late August so that families can meet our wonderful new teacher.  We will let you know the date and time later this summer.

Supply List

These are the only supplies required for fifth grade students.  Please do NOT send items other than those listed below.  ALSO, please do not label your child’s supplies.  Most of the supplies are shared within our classroom.  We will label personal items on the first day of school.  Thank you!

$  1 - 3x5 or 4x6 photograph of your child (NO frame please)

$  1 Large box of Kleenex

$  Scissors (adult size with plastic handles are preferred, DollarTree is a good source)

$  2 White Pearl erasers ~ latex free

$  1 Package lined index cards (3 x 5 inches)

$  Three 1 1/2” white view binders

$  4 canisters of disinfectant wipes

$  2 Black Sharpie markers

$  1 large bottle hand sanitizer

    2 Green ball point pens for correcting mistakes

$  1 large bottle Elmer’s school glue

$  1 box Latex Free bandages

$  36 Ticonderoga #2 pencils (latex free)

$  8 Composition books (black and white marbled covers only!)

$  1 Set of Crayola colored pencils

$  1 Box Crayola crayons (48 count)

$  1 Set of Crayola markers

$  9” x 12” white drawing pad

$  3 folders with pockets

$  6 Glue sticks

5^th Grade Summer Reading List

Each student should plan to read at least three of the books on this list over the summer.  We will be discussing many of them in September and October.
