Join us this weekend for Kevin Lovejoy’s commissioning as Pastoral Coordinator of Saint Patrick Catholic Church & School. At all Masses the weekend of September 5 – 6, 2015, Mr. Lovejoy will be formally commissioned with the responsibility of leading the parish spiritually and liturgically in addition to his previous administrative duties. The community will also be given a mission— to make a commitment to support each other and to support Mr. Lovejoy in his new role as Pastoral Coordinator.
Archbishop Sartain appointed Mr. Lovejoy the Pastoral Coordinator of St. Pat’s in May 2015. The parish is the first in the Pierce County Deanery to implement this new model of leadership— a model which has been successful in other Western Washington deaneries. As of July 1, 2015, Mr. Lovejoy’s role expanded from that of an administrator only to a lay person responsible for the complete pastoral care of the St. Pat’s community in the absence of a Pastor. Mr. Lovejoy will be working closely with a team of three Parish Priests from the Jesuit community— Father Tom Lamanna, S.J., Father Jerry Graham, S.J. and Father John Fuchs, S.J. who are serving the sacramental needs of the parish.
In the words of Father Jerry Graham, S. J. — the mission has us! We don’t create the mission— we are given the mission. Mr. Lovejoy and the St. Pat’s community has been given a mission— the mission to serve the needs of the parish community together and to go and share the Gospel message with the world.
Come to Mass this weekend at Saint Patrick Catholic Church— Saturday at 5:30 P.M., Sunday at 8:30 A.M. and 10:30 A.M. to offer Mr. Lovejoy a blessing as he continues his new role as Pastoral Coordinator for St. Pat’s.
