Becoming Catholic?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process through which interested adults and children are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life.

OCIA is a process of welcoming, forming, and catechizing those who wish to be baptized in the Catholic Church. It is also for those who have been baptized in another Christian Church and want to join the Catholic Church and for baptized Catholics who have not received First Eucharist and Confirmation. The goal of OCIA is to foster and deepen the conversion of individuals and the entire community of believers.

Communal Processes Culminates at Easter

It is a communal process and involves a number of stages punctuated by liturgical rites to aid and assist the person toward the final rite, usually at the Easter Vigil at which time they will become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. The entire process takes several months, and ideally a minimum of one complete liturgical year.
