Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classes are now forming for children ages 3 – 12+. This summer catechists around the country were busy with formation programming to prepare for new sessions in local atria.
National Formation Course
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd National Formation Course was held at the Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center from July 17 – July 27, 2018. Participants came from all over the world including Puerto Rico, Canada, Guatemala, South Africa, and Mexico; in addition to those from the U.S., including, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, California, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, North Dakota, and Michigan, to name a few.
Stewards Among Us
Parishioners Julia Looper and Charla Johnson, completed their formation for Level ll , serving 6-9 year old children and Level lll, serving 9-12 year old children respectively. The 4-week training began last summer.
Renown Formation Leaders
Catechist came from far and wide to take advantage of this rare opportunity to receive formation from world class Formation Leaders. Included in the line up of trainers were Karen Maxwell, Director of Formation for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Rebekah Rojcewicz, translator of Sophia Cavaletti‘s work and early student of Dr. Cavaletti, Dr. Ann Garrido, theologian and author, Donna Turner and Anna Hurdle, both well respected Montessori guides. Twenty people participated in the Level ll course, training to serve 6 to 9-year-old children and 42 people participated in the Level III course, training to serve 9-12 year old child.
