A Letter From Our Pastoral Coordinator

Dear Friends,

As I reflect back on our weeklong Parish Mission, I was delighted to see friends from our neighbor parishes joining us in prayer and worship.

Collaboration within our Quadrant

While our initial goal in offering this week-long mission was to provide Saint Patrick Catholic Church parishioners a variety of spiritual opportunities to encounter Jesus in a meaningful way this Lenten season, we quickly saw it as an opportunity for the five Catholic churches in our Northwest Quadrant (St. Leo, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Rita, Holy Cross and SaintPatrick) to come to the realization that we are brothers and sisters in Christ, friends and colleagues across our parish boundaries, who can benefit from praying and worshiping together. As we help Archbishop Sartain plan from the bottom up for the future of the Catholic church of Western Washington, this emerging spirit of collegiality among our existing parishes will serve us well.

Grateful for Clergy and Lay Leaders from the Quadrant

In addition to extending this invitation from Saint Patrick Parish to their own parishioners, we are also grateful to the pastoral leaders of our neighboring churches for finding time in their own busy Lenten schedules to join us for various parts of the Mission. We are especially grateful to Father Gene Delmore, S.J. and Father Pete Henriot, S.J. for their reflections during our Communal Penance Service, and Father Tom Lamanna, S.J. and Father John Fuchs, S.J. for leading our session on the Incarnation of Christ and the Life of Christ. We thank Fathers Mike McDermott, Ron Knudsen, Jerry Graham and Steve Lantry for joining our Reconciliation Service. A special thanks to our Saint Patrick Catholic School fifth graders and teachers who led us in the Living Rosary.

Our Parish Leaders Led the Effort

Let me close by thanking our very own Laura Dougherty and Deacon Bill and Barbara Eckert for not only spearheading and coordinating this Mission, but for their presentations on Grace and the Cross. Thanks also to Bill and Barbara for providing the music that created such a loving and peaceful environment for our weeklong encounter with Christ.

May the rest of of your Lenten journey be blessed with an ever increasing knowledge and experience of Christ’s infinite love for you. Continue to encounter Christ as we begin Holy Week and move into Triduum and Easter, celebrating the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord.  Let’s pray together.  Click here for the Holy Week schedule.

St. Patrick, pray for us!
