On May 20, 2017, the Saint Patrick Catholic Church & School Health Ministry participated in the Pierce County Emergency Food Network 2017 Hunger Walk and 5K Run.
Team
The team from Saint Patrick Catholic Church consisted of Meaghan Bihun, Niall B., Wynter Dait, Glenburn D., Bella B., and Garry FitzGerald. The entire team completed in the 5K Run and all the runners crossed the finish line with arms raised and smiles on their faces, even 7 year old Niall Bihun, who took a spill on the course and scraped his knee.
Medals
There were over 100 runners and over 700 participants overall. Ten year old Bella B. finished third in Female 19 and Under Division and was awarded a beautiful medal. Garry FitzGerald, 69, placed third in the Male, 55 and Over Division and was also awarded a medal.
Sharing the Message of Love
Garry FitzGerald, Health Ministry Leader said the following, “Several people who saw the Saint Patrick Catholic Church & School Health Ministry sign and our smiling team stopped by to ask about our parish and get one of the healthy free yogurts we were giving away. It was truly a great experience for our entire team to participate in this wonderful event with an organization like the Pierce County Emergency Food Network who helps so many hungry people in our area.”
The Health Ministry looks forward to doing this again next year with an even bigger team.
