Dear Friends,
What great news it is that Father David Mulholland, like the early Apostles, has been “missioned” to us by Archbishop Sartain to serve as the new pastor of Saint Patrick, Saint Rita and Holy Cross parishes. As many of you know, this will be a homecoming for Father Mulholland who grew up in Tacoma, and served his first Mass at Saint Patrick Parish.
Serving as pastor of one parish is tough enough, but serving three parishes is all the more challenging, and all the more opportunity for us to step up and continue to play our respective parts as the collective Body of Christ.
As mentioned last week, we ask everyone to continue being flexible, open, and creative as we add a 3rd parish community to the mix. Although we can’t see it, we can certainly feel the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the decisions being made and that will be made in the coming months. What this new arrangement of parishes in our three existing communities will ultimately look like is yet to be revealed, but we find great comfort and courage in knowing that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will be with us and with our new brothers and sisters in Christ at Saint Rita and Holy Cross, as we follow the “missioning” we received in our Baptism to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to Tacoma and the world.
